Bichitrapur is a small hamlet in Baleswar (Balasore) district of Odisha and around 15KM from Digha in West Bengal. This mangrove forest is very close to Digha (18km) but it is under Balasore Wildlife Division of Odisa. It is developed by Odisha Forest Sector Development Programme in regeneration, conservation and protection of mangrove forests. Boat ride is the best option to explore the forest for 1hr tour. Bichitrapur is in the border of the Baleshwar District and Medinipur East District. The ride will take you to the deep forest of mangroves & the meeting point of Subarnarekha river & the Bay of Bengal Sea. One can find Red Crabs, rare Tortoise, mangrove trees during your ride. The forest needs more attention to save the mangroves & attracts more tourists maintaining its ecological balance.
